Backpack Ministry Readies for a New School Year

The Backback Ministry is gearing up for the new school year and feeling blessed for the opportunity to serve many of the children attending Ruth Barron Elementary School that might not have enough food at home for the weekend. A bag with non-perishable food items is sent home with these children on the last school day of each week.

Donations of the following will be greatly appreciated: granola bars, peanut butter crackers, fruit cups, ramen noodles, shelf stable milk, individual cups of cold cereal, oatmeal packets, individual packages of Goldfish crackers, and microwave popcorn. Other items will be added to the list as information is received from PfISD staff.

This year there is a need for two additional drivers to pick up filled bags from the Food Pantry building and deliver to Ruth Barron Elementary. This is generally done on Thursday afternoon about 3:00 pm. That day and time could be amended as the school schedule is changed for holidays, etc. There is also always a need for more individuals to help fill the bags with food. This is usually done on Thursday morning.

Please email Marie Davis or call (512) 251-2508 with any questions.

ILC’s Backpack Ministry is a wonderful opportunity to “SERVE GOD BY SERVING PEOPLE.”
Thanks and God’s peace to you.
