God’s Work. Our Hands.
September 13, 2015
“God’s work. Our hands.” Sunday is an opportunity to celebrate who we are as the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA) – one church, freed in Christ to serve and love our neighbor. For the past two years, thousands of members from across the ELCA have dedicated one day to serve communities in ways that share the love of God with all people.
There are a variety of volunteer opportunities for you to choose from to do with your families and/or fellow ILC friends. All opportunities will follow the Sunday School Rally Day hour and the late service. We invite you to join us for a sandwich lunch and sending off blessing immediately following late service.
Our chosen service activities include:
- Paint at Pfluger Park (gazebos, playhouse and headquarters)
- Sew blankets for the Pflugerville Animal Shelter
- Yard work at the Shelter
- Interact with the cats at the Shelter (ages 16+)
- WELCA tie blankets
- Collection for the Food Pantry** (scavenger hunt-style to make it fun for families)
** The Yellow Brick House Food Pantry at Immanuel Lutheran Church provides food and financial assistance to Pflugerville residents that live within Pflugerville ISD. Since May, the Yellow Brick House has helped feed almost 1,200 family members in our community.
You work every day to love your neighbors and make your community a better place.
Let’s continue doing this work together in 2015!
