Letter from Pastor Candice Regarding COVID-19

Hello Council, Staff, Worship Leaders, and Friends of Immanuel Lutheran Church –

The Peace of Christ be with you all.

After a brief leadership meeting at noon on 3/13/20, Immanuel Lutheran Church has decided to move to Online recorded/ Worship Leaders-Only style worship for the next 10 days: 3/15 & 3/22. Lenten worship will be pre-recorded, available online, only. If you have not volunteered to lead worship, you are discouraged from attending worship in person.

Every community crisis presents both danger and opportunity. Recognizing the health threat of COVID-19, your leaders have decided to do something to slow the spread of the virus among the most immune-vulnerable at our church. Jesus always placed the weakest and most vulnerable people at the center of the community. ILC is doing the same. We are closely monitoring regional statistics and will evaluate the need for Leaders-Only worship on a weekly basis after March 22, 2020.

Please keep our church and our community in your prayers, and be mindful of our neighbors and members over age 60 who do not have family in our area.

Please pray with me:
Gracious God, it is good for us to gather as your beloved in community. We treasure your presence with us in word and meal, song and prayer. Be with us in these days when gathering together as often as we would like is not possible. When we must be apart for reasons of safety, we trust that you surround us with your sheltering wings. Encourage us in connecting as we are able, reaching out to our neighbors in need and being persistent in prayer. We ask this in the name of Jesus, our constant companion. Amen. (from the ELCA)

In peace,
Pr. Candice
