NEW Learning Anti-Racism Group

NEW Learning Anti-Racism Group

This summer, a group of 12 members has been meeting weekly to explore ways to teach our community about injustice towards people of color. The group discerned that the best way to engage the most people was to host a movie discussion series. And everyone is invited to participate.

Each month this fall has a different movie you can watch at home.
On the third Thursday of the month Pastor Candice and the team will help us have faith-FULL small group conversations on Zoom around the movie, with scripture and prayer.
Join at anytime; invite your friends!
Family-friendly conversations for everyone.
We recommend kids be reading “chapter books” to participate with a parent.

For August, we will be watching the documentary Emanuel. Emanuel is the story of the shooting at the Emanuel AME Church and its aftermath as told by the survivors and family members. It is a poignant story of justice and faith, love and hate, examining the healing power of forgiveness. The movie is available online via Starz free trial offer or can be rented on Amazon Prime.
Watch the movie and then join us for a discussion on Zoom at 7 pm on August 20.

  • August 20 – Emmanuel
  • Sept 17 – Selma
  • Oct 15 – Just Mercy
  • Nov 19 – 13th

  1. Greetings!

My name is Kimberly Holiday, resident of Pflugerville. I am also a member of the 2020 Leadership Austin Essentials class. I am reaching out to see if this still an active group and how I may participate and lead healing circles with the group.

I understand that we are now operating virtually and would love an opportunity to engage.

    In all Joy,
    Kimberly D. Holiday
