About the Day School

Immanuel Lutheran Day School (ILDS) was established in 1985 as a ministry of the Immanuel Lutheran Church. ILDS is currently licensed for 220 children and provides:

• Full-time care for infants, toddlers, and preschool children (6 weeks through 5 years).

• After-school care for children in Kindergarten through 5th grade (depending on enrollment and bus availability).

• Full-time summer care for children in Kindergarten through 5th grade.

ILDS Core Values

At ILDS, we strive to develop the whole child in a Christ-centered environment by:

1. Learning through play

2. Sparking imagination

3. Building self-esteem and humility

4. Building an attitude of community

Our Philosophy

Each child is a special creation of God. Each child comes to this school with a unique understanding of the world, a set of values, a family lifestyle, and a set of emotional and physical needs. Our goal is to take each child and nurture their individuality. We cannot give a greater gift to a child than self-esteem. When children value themselves and feel secure in their surroundings, they are free to explore, investigate, and learn. In working toward this goal, we will help the children understand God’s love for them.

Our teachers exemplify God’s loving concern by using positive reinforcement techniques to modify inappropriate behavior. We use positive examples and language. We praise children often. We also redirect by using positive phrases.

We believe that working with parents/guardians is vital to the success of the program. Parents/guardians may also participate by volunteering their time and talents with ILDS. In whatever way a parent/guardian chooses to help, the children will feel secure in the knowledge that their parents/guardians are interested in them and their day school experience.

Statement of Purpose

Immanuel Lutheran Day School is a ministry created by Immanuel Lutheran Church to serve the Pflugerville community and we welcome families of all faiths and beliefs. We exist to fulfill our Lord Jesus Christ’s command to go, baptize, teach, and make disciples. To do this, we will provide the following:

• A safe and nurturing environment, where children can joyfully experience their first major away-from-home education instruction. This will be accomplished in a setting where each child feels emotionally safe, accepted for who they are, and loved unconditionally while maintaining compliance with the State of Texas Minimum Standards for Child-Care Centers.

• Guided by our daily chapel services, it is a place where children can learn what it means to be a Christian and how to live as a Christian. We embody the Christian behaviors and attitudes of love, tolerance, understanding, and acceptance of others’ feelings, unselfishness, patience, kindness, forgiveness, and grace.

• A setting in which each child may fully learn and grow (physically, emotionally, socially, spiritually, and intellectually) by each child’s developmental age, individual abilities, and potential.
